In Russia, a student attacked his teacher and classmates with a hammer

On September 16, 2024, a 13-year-old student attacked his classmates and a teacher with a hammer in Chelyabinsk, Russia.
The attack took place at School No. 68 in Chelyabinsk during a lesson. The student brought the hammer in his bag and launched the attack as soon as the lesson began.
As a result of the attack, four people - three students and one teacher - were injured, with one girl hospitalized in critical condition.
Police arrived at the scene and stopped the attacking student. The student later attempted suicide, but was unsuccessful. Currently, he has been placed in a psychiatric clinic, and investigations are underway regarding the causes of the attack.
"The big question is how the student brought the hammer into the school. Why didn't the security service respond? I have instructed law enforcement agencies, the Ministry of Education, the city administration, and the Commissioner for Children's Rights to thoroughly investigate the situation. I have also ordered inspections to be conducted in all educational institutions," said Aleksey Teksler, the governor of Chelyabinsk.
The incident has drawn public attention in Russia, and the attack has been classified as an "attempted murder." According to reports, the attacker had been receiving help from the school psychologist and was socially isolated from his classmates.
