On July 12 of this year, 22 children were killed in Nigeria as a result of the collapse of a two-story school building belonging to the community of Busa Buji, owned by the Saint Academy. A total of 154 people who were inside the building remained under the ruins.
The accident occurred in the state of Plato. The walls of the old and unusable school building collapsed due to cracks and bursts. The cause of the accident was the fact that the structure served for a very long time and was not repaired.
According to local health organizations, 30 people were hospitalized with severe injuries. The National Emergency Situations Agency of the country stated that rescue work has been completed at the scene of the accident and the ruins are being cleared.
After the accident, the state administration also inspected the condition of other educational institutions in the Jos district where the incident occurred. State officials expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.
